Jules Porreca has worked in the UK and internationally for over 20 years as a professional musician, educator and entrepeneur.
Starting piano lessons aged 3, Jules quickly worked his way through the early grades while also learning a wide range of other instruments. Through school years he became a proficient multi-instrumentalist and secured both junior and senior music scholarships at prestiguous schools. He completed grade 8s in numerous instruments, acheiving a near perfect 149/150 for his Grade 8 piano and distinction in his diploma. While at university he continued his studies under a number of renowned teachers from the Royal College of Music as well as developing his performance skills gigging in various bands and shows around the UK and abroad.
His passion for teaching has always been very strong and in 2001 he setup his first private teaching practice and as part of his portfolio career has been teaching ever since. Holder of a masters degree, Higher Diploma in Songwriting and PGCert in Further and Higher Music Education, in 2008 he was invited to teach at one of Europe's top providers of popular music education. Since then he's held positions of Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Lead Lecturer, Module Leader, Personal Tutor, Course Convenor and Examiner amongst others. He's designed and written many schemes of work, courses, assessments and digital learning resources in many different curriculum areas including keyboard skills, live performance, songwriting, digital audio workstation skills and music business. He's delivered tuition across various settings including primary school, secondary school, Further and Higher Education and is very experienced with all ages and abilities across all musical styles and genres.
As a freelance musician Jules has delivered thousands of hours of tuition, talks, masterclasses, workshop sessions, digital learning aides and support to other educators and instutions as well as thousands of performances and studio hours. He is the co-author of the BIMM University Keyboard Styles & Techniques book and a published artist in his own right. With notable chart success with "The Day I Died", a co-write with Just Jack, Jules has also seen his work published on major video games and used in film and TV. He has also enjoyed significant commercial success as a performer, musical director, writer, arranger, producer and band fixer amongst other roles.
Jules has helped hundreds of students to successfully achieve their goals and realise their potential. Many of his students have now progressed through school and music college and are now working successfully in different areas of the creative industries, locally, nationally and internationally.
